Southern Crescent Tennis Association is excited to share that we recently received a grant from USTA Southern to support our work with Special Pops Tennis here in Fayette County.
Special Pops is a tennis program designed for local students with disabilities, most of whom are high school age. Many of the athletes have Down syndrome or are on the autism spectrum. SCTA volunteers are actively involved in the program — providing coaching, encouragement, and event support throughout the year.
A highlight of the program comes twice a year, when our volunteers assist these student athletes in competing in Special Olympics’ tennis events. The energy, joy, and determination on the courts are inspiring for everyone involved.
We are deeply grateful to USTA Southern for their generous support, which will help us continue making tennis accessible and enjoyable for every athlete in our community.
